This word flesh is not one people use in this time very often.b I think most men would identify flesh with “fleshly desire” as in sexual desire, but it is much more simple than that.

Originally “carnis”, which is the same as meat. I have heard “wearing a flesh suit”, “meat bag” ,

“biological organisms,” “living entities,” or “carbon-based lifeforms.

Flesh refers to the fleshly parts of the body, so everything we have identified in anatomy is flesh. All of our senses are parts of the flesh. Even our brains are flesh, though many people believe that there is a ‘ghost’ in this flesh, a hidden ‘life’ that works invisibly within the confines of the fleshly matter.

Even the electrical impulses are in the form of chemicals in our neurons, and so they are also flesh.

Soul is a completely different nature, another dimension, a different plane of existence. Soul is not flesh, it is something else. A great majority of the human population believe that humans have an invisible soul, but really fail to encounter their own soul as something separate.

In Christianity the flesh refers to these human bodies that always prefer physical pleasures, as opposed to preferring god as their pleasure. The flesh only looks at flesh. It is blind to spirit. Our bodies only ever think of physical things in our world.

It is the soul, the invisible part of us that has the ability to think in spiritual terms. But the soul can go either way, looking at the flesh or looking at spirit. The soul is fickle in that way and it is foolish. The soul, in its weakness will gravitate to the easiest path of its sensation and it chooses flesh because it is so easy. When the ‘spirit’, or the soul in this case ‘feels’ empty it chooses to fill that emptiness with flesh, not the spiritual path, which is god. This is the same as in the story of Adam choosing the tree of knowledge of good and evil over staying with his god relationship. Adam made a huge choice when he chose the tree. That choice broke the 100% bond Adam had with god. Then genetically this affected all of Adam’s progeny. Humans followed the flesh from that day on. The souls of mankind now followed the flesh rather than god. This brings us to today when mankind follows the flesh almost all of the time.
