The Unconditional Gift: Embracing God’s Offer

Anyone dissatisfied with God or with the church has missed an important point. It is not about what god or the church can do for you, but what you can do for yourself. I guess Kennedy said something similar didn’t he?

Our lives always revolve around our choices. God doesn’t make us choose him. If I choose a church where there is abuse of some kind, or I just don’t like the way Christian’s act, this really has nothing to do with me. I still get to choose God, or not. No one can use the excuse that Christians can be bad people to turn away from God himself. Do you think god controls every Christian? Certainly not! He certainly doesn’t control me as evidence on my lukewarm Christian performance.

Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to deal with humans who are mostly stupid all the time? humans constantly make the wrong choices. We are simply foolish and dumb! Of course God is above such characterizations and also is above frustration, but think of it. How would a human feel if they offered an amazing gift, absolutely free for the taking, and an individual looking at the gift just decided that they didn’t want it. Would that make any sense? is there any logic to any person turning away from such a huge gift with no strings attached?

There are no strings attached. God doesn’t require anything from us. Adam did utilize gods gift of fellowship for a time. Adam is our father, our genetic father. It was Adam that changed from 100% fellowship with god to choosing his own path. Adam changed to loving himself rather than loving god. We are Adam and Adam is us. We turned away from god. We changed from loving god. Gods gift allows us to resolve our own stupidity. We are benefitting ourselves when we choose god. God only asks us to come back, but even still he doesn’t require us to. If we choose god it is because we choose it because we want that. So god doesn’t require us to do anything. But do we want what we had before? Would any right minded human not want what we had before?

Do you want to take advantage of gods offer? Then you have it, it’s yours for the taking. The offer is just sitting there, free for the taking.

If we want to be angry that we have to backtrack our lives, then it isn’t God that we should be angry at. It is Adam, it is US.

If this doesn’t make sense, I am sorry.
