Restlessness

The onus is always on me to find a place in god. This restlessness is my soul feeling  how it is lost. It is a perfectly natural thing for humans, but we have adapted by filling the soul ache with lots of really quite impressive, but empty experiences. There were many completely natural ways before humankind invented glitzy and appealing technologies, but all experiences were attempting to find any way, any other mental solution to this soul ache, other than god. Humans stubbornly avoid god. It does not make sense and as time progresses it becomes more difficult, because humans have a huge blind spot to truth. I guess our flesh is that blind spot!I don’t understand what it is about our flesh that drives it to get in the way of spiritual progress, but if I follow what my flesh wants it just leads me away from god. The flesh hijacks my soul and takes it on a ride away from what is good for the soul.

I know when I am restless. I pace spiritually, which displays itself in mentally trying to find worldly things to fill my current emptiness. Some people have just learned to stick with their chosen fillers. I would label any activity or practice that ‘scratches’ any given ‘itch’ a filler. A filler is any opportunity that I perceive to fix my boredom, or my restlessness, mental or physical. Some people may have ‘go tos’ like doing a puzzle, work, or drinking. Our world offers so many options to fill our inevitable soul ache. Soul ache is like any other kind of ache, tooth ache, muscle ache,headache, it may not be extreme but it can be. Soul ache tends to fly just under the radar because we have become so good at filling it with something other than god. We are really good at applying bandaids to something like a raging full on flesh eating disease! 

Don’t underestimate the power of this fleshly minds of ours. Our brains have an astounding ability at smoothing over a crisis. Our brains keep telling us ‘it’s fine, you’re ok’, when actually we are NOT ok. Spiritually we are dying believing in an illusion of ‘peace,peace’.

Sadly most of us have to hit a brick wall before the illusion that we live in is illuminated. When our eyes are opened we can then make a choice.

When the Holy Spirit speaks to you, even in a very small way, choose Jesus and dwell in him.

If the Holy Spirit speaks to you, don’t squander it. Act on it and pursue it until your soul finds its satisfaction.
