We often think of “sin” as a list of rules we’ve broken, but what if it’s more about the fragmentation of who we are? Imagine the Ten Commandments not as a fence meant to keep us in, but as the strong roots of a tree. When we act with hate, greed, or ego, we aren’t just crossing a line—we are allowing “tendrils” of decay to spread through our character.
The Ego as Entropy
The ego is the ultimate opposite of the light. While light is radiant and expansive, the ego is entropic—it pulls inward, creating a “spiritual black hole” that consumes but never satisfies. To live through the ego is to choose a state of “unmaking.” It is a slow slide toward losing the very essence of what God intended us to be. As we wander from truth and goodness, we don’t just become “bad”; we become less real.
Choosing Alignment Over Checklist
What matters to the Divine isn’t just a tally of rule-breaking. It is the direction of the heart. Are we moving toward the light of wholeness, or are we wandering into the cold isolation of the self? Every choice is a vote for the person we are becoming.
When we “turn on the light” by practicing awareness and truth, the ego—which has no substance of its own—simply loses its place to hide. We stop being a distorted mirror and start becoming a clear reflection of the Light.
